Activities canceled, buses delayed at Deer Creek HS after brief closure

Deer Creek High School sent the following message to students, staff and families following a modified lockdown Monday afternoon.

Deer Creek High School students, staff and families,

Because the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, we thank you for your cooperation during the curfew at Deer Creek High School today, September 30, 2024.

We would like to provide you with further information about today's events:

Thank you to the students who quickly notified administration when they noticed a student on campus without an ID. It is imperative that our students wear their identification cards at all times while on our campus. This allows us to easily identify anyone on campus who should not be here.

ORIGINAL STORY

EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) – With school activities canceled and school buses expected to run late after Deer Creek High School was placed on a modified lockdown Monday afternoon.

According to an email from the Deer Creek School District to families, the high school was placed on a modified lockdown after a former student was on campus without permission.

The district gave the all-clear after confirming that the student had left campus based on video footage from the school.

The district says all extracurricular activities at DCHS have been canceled for the day. Delays are also to be expected for school buses. These can be tracked using My Ride K-12.

There are currently no further details about the incident with the former student.
