Cooler temperatures but still mostly dry weather

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A cool front is moving through the Land of Enchantment, but combined with dry air behind the front and a high pressure system in the Four Corners, skies will be mostly cloudless at first. Along the front, winds are increasing, with gusts over 30-40 mph already ahead of the front boundary, temperatures are very mild with temperatures in the 60s and even 70s, while cooler air is also moving into the mountains, particularly in the Northeast Highlands, where temperatures drop to over 50, 40 and 30 degrees.

The forecast continues below

Temperatures will continue to be above normal, but it will not be as warm as temperatures will eventually reach the high 60s, 70s, 80s and low 90s from the morning commute through the afternoon. With just a little moisture trapped under the high pressure, showers will form today in the western ranges where the front will eventually arrive, while it will be mostly sunny almost everywhere else.

As high pressure continues to move northwest, we will continue to experience very clear skies with relatively cool mornings and very warm afternoons throughout Balloon Fiesta weekend.
