Davante Adams tells the Raiders he would prefer to be traded

It was a contrast to the time leading up to this season when his name was circulating in trade rumors and Adams, who moved from the Green Bay Packers before the 2022 season, refuted them. In July, he said he was “locked in” to the Raiders despite a frustrating first two seasons with the club in which Las Vegas failed to make the playoffs, his close friend and quarterback Derek Carr was released, and expressed his dismay at Neftlix came Recipient Series.

Things have clearly changed for Adams, who missed the Raiders' Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury.

The immediate speculation about where Adams might end up will focus on the New York Jets, where he could potentially reunite with former Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers. However, the Jets already have a young WR1 in Garrett Wilson, complemented by Mike Williams and Allen Lazard. Another landing spot, as NFL.com's Kevin Patra noted, would be the Kansas City Chiefs, although it's hard to imagine the Raiders negotiating a trade to send a three-time Pro Bowler to their archrival.

For the Jets, Chiefs or any potential suitor, working out compensation isn't the only concern in trying to acquire Adams. The three-time All-Pro has a base salary of $16.8 million this season, which is fully guaranteed. He still has two years left after that at $35.6 million in 2025 and $36.6 million in 2026, but no guaranteed money.

Adams is 31 but coming off his fourth straight 1,000-yard season. In three starts this season, Adams has recorded 18 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown.

Pierce and the 2-2 Raiders want to win now, which seems to be in direct contrast to trading one of theirs – and the league's – best player. But from today's perspective, both parties seem to be considering a separation.

After a summer of denying the rumors, Adams is now leaning toward leaving Las Vegas.
