The only thing that matters here is that the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys have now played four games each, so guys like DeMarcus Lawrence, Dexter Lawrence and Jason Pinnock, who you see on this list, are all one more game ahead of everyone others have At least else on this list. It's no surprise that Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson is leading the NFL.

He has 6.5 sacks in three weeks. Currently, he would be on pace for 37 sacks in a 17-game season. Hutchinson also already has 11 QB hits and six tackles for a loss. There are solid rotational pass rushers who can do this line in an entire season, but Hutchinson did it all in just three games.

Second in the NFL in sacks is Will McDonald IV of the New York Jets. McDonald is in his second season and already has more sacks and QB hits than he did in his entire rookie season. McDonald's performance could be particularly impressive since the Jets don't even have Haason Reddick or Jermaine Johnson on the field.

The team also let Bryce Huff leave as a free agent and traded John Franklin-Myers. So what McDonald has done is outstanding. There are four players in the NFL with four sacks; Keion White, Kyle Van Noy, Jonathan Greenard and Patrick Jones II. Van Noy is 33 years old but is on pace to have the best season of his career, which is remarkable.

Greenard and Jones are helping bolster the Minnesota Vikings' stifling defense, and the New England Patriots' Keion White could end up being one of their only bright spots in the 2024 NFL season. Then you have one tonne the player with three and two sacks tied.

Looking down, there are a few teams where no player has more than one sack. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs are those two teams. They have several players tied to one sack, but no one with more.

Sacks can be misleading in the NFL and are not always indicative of a team or player's defensive performance. It's important not to get too caught up in raw sack totals. Both the Buccaneers and Chiefs have good defenses, but not having anyone with tons of sacks for three weeks doesn't affect the defense itself.
