Residents of Zichron Ya'acov report rocket attacks for the first time in 10 years

For the first time since the war began on October 7, sirens wailed in Zichron Ya'acov, near Haifa, on Wednesday, according to Israeli media, and residents reported intercepted rockets.

According to Israeli media, a rocket was reported to have landed in an open area near Moshav Bat Shlomo, near Zichron Ya'acov.

According to Eli Abutbul, head of the Zikhron Council, Hezbollah had attempted to attack a “strategic target” near Haifa, KAN reported. Lebanese media reports also claimed that Hezbollah deliberately fired on a strategic security facility in the area.

“We were expecting this moment,” Abutbul told KAN. “We thought it would come two days ago.”

A resident of Zichron Ya'acov recounted Israel Hayom that it was the first time the alarm had sounded in the area since Operation Protective Edge in 2014.

More attacks on Wednesday

The IDF reported that five rockets were also fired at the Menashe, Hacarmel and Wadi Ara areas on Wednesday morning, activating sirens. Magen David Adom said reports of falls had been received but no injuries had been reported so far.

Earlier in the day, Hezbollah fired a ballistic missile at Tel Aviv for the first time since the war began, reportedly in retaliation for the pager explosions in Lebanon last week.
