Spotify Global Head of Music Jeremy Erlich is leaving the company

Jeremy Erlich will leave his position as Spotify's global music chief, a company spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday (October 1). Erlich joined the streaming service back in June 2019 after previously serving as executive vice president of business development at Interscope Records.

In an email to staff this week, he said: “Over the last few months, I have reflected on what we have achieved as a team and as a company and what challenges lie ahead.” Based on these reflections, I have decided that it is for “It’s time for me to turn the page after 5.5 incredible years.”

“As I thought about the future, I became more and more excited to embark on my own entrepreneurial journey,” Erlich continued. “It has been a goal of mine for a long time and now seems like the right time to pursue it. This was a very difficult decision, but as I have said many times, you are the best team in the industry and I know you will be in good hands going forward.”

Erlich will advise the streaming service until the end of February. His previous reports – Sulinna Ongglobal editorial director, Joe Hadleyglobal head of music partnerships and audiences, and Madeleine BennettGlobal Head of Music Go-to-Market – will now report David KaeferVice President, Music and Audiobook Business.

“While change can feel hard,” Erlich wrote, “I am confident that this will only lead to great things for the team, and I will be here to help you all get through it.”
