Why isn't DWTS on tonight? The Vance-Walz VP debate is to blame

The competition is great Dancing with the starsbut Season 33 was briefly put on hiatus on Tuesday, October 1st due to a scheduling conflict.

The third episode of the season will not air until Tuesday, October 8, as all major broadcast networks have suspended their usual programming to broadcast the Minnesota governor's vice presidential debate Tim Waltz and Senator from Ohio JD Vance – who are running alongside the vice president Kamala Harris on the Democratic ticket and former president Donald Trump on the Republican ticket — on Tuesday night in New York City.

Season 33 of Dancing with the stars debuted on September 17th with Tori spelling, Phaedra Parks, Anna Delvey, Joey Graziadei, Jenn Tran And Stephen Nedoroscik among the performers vying for the mirror ball trophy. Alfonso Ribeiro And Julianne Hough resumed their role as hosts during Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli And Derek Hough returned as judge.

Although all competitors were not eliminated during the premiere, two couples were sent home during the September 24 episode: Delvey and her partner, Ezra Sosaand Spelling and her partner, Pasha Pashkov.

Delvey, 33, was blunt when asked what she would take away from her experience on the ABC reality series and replied, “Nothing.”

Julianne, 36, took the comment in stride, replying: “There you have it, absolutely nothing,” while Ribeiro, 53, quipped: “You had fun, stop it.”

Spelling, for her part, had kinder words about her time Dancing with the starsexclusively narrative Us weekly that despite her early departure she was grateful for it.

“It has truly been an incredible journey and experience,” she said. “Obviously I felt like I was just getting started and I saw such a big change in myself, physically and mentally (and) emotionally. Of course I wanted to keep going, but I’m grateful I did.”

Spelling, 51, had the support of her children – she shares Liam, 17, Stella, 16, Hattie, 12, Finn, 12, and Beau, 7, with her estranged husband Dean McDermott – throughout her journey and was happy that her children saw her “facing her fears” during the competition.

“I came home every day a better version of myself and a better mother because… I felt so much personal growth and happiness and took advantage of things,” she explained. “I thought, 'Oh my God, I haven't felt this happy in so long because of something I do for myself.' Because I believe that somewhere along this journey called life, I gave up a big part of myself, and now I've tapped into that, so I'm going to move on.”

Spelling added that she would “1000 percent” continue dancing after the show. “I don’t know what that looks like, but I would like to (continue),” she said. “I found something I really enjoyed and realized I was good at it. … I made myself proud.”

Dancing with the stars returns to ABC and Disney+ on Tuesday, October 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
